Holographic Fashion Show - Diesel's Fashion Show

Giant aquatic creatures from the deep, snaking robots made from watches and one man submarines were among many other things never before seen on the catwalk, that stunned the audience in Florence, Italy last week as Diesel presented their show for the Spring Summer 2008 collection. The ‘liquid space’ concept for the collection was radically brought to life during the 17 minute show, which is the first time that holograms have been projected along a traditional catwalk, being visible from both sides, and the first to combine both real and holographic models in a fashion show. Alexander McQueen used a holographic effect Kate Moss last year at the end of the show, but here the show was entirely built around the holograms and certainly seems to have taken the concept of the fashion show to a new level. Check out the part where a shoal of fish tranforms itself into a model - this got one of the biggest reactions from the crowd! I found this link with more images, and you can watch the YouTube video below.

Website logo list

Visually overwhelming approach of presenting the most relevant websites according to specific categories, such as shopping, blogging, entertainment, travel, insurance, dating, translation, & music, by displaying a huge list of logos of the according web companies. a separate category focuses on a weekly updated collection of hand-picked websites. []

Encyclopedia of life website

An infographical movie explaining an upcoming website that will act as an Encyclopidia of Life, collecting & documenting the 1.8 million living species known to man today. should be on a website near you around mid 2008.

the shown snippets of several interactive data visualizations, as well as the movie itself, which acts as an visually engaging & explanatory tool, seem quite interesting.

Wall Art

We admire the work of artists and designers who are not afraid to move beyond the limits of canvas and create visions that should forever alter the meaning of "staring at the walls" and "watching paint dry."

Nexx Helmets

And now, it’s just got a little bit smugger. Nexx Helmets from the UK have just released their new collection for 2007. Featuring the Nexx Cross Aluminium, a dirt bike shaped helmet, equipped with removable inner so you can make sure your face doesn’t smell like a football boot when your out and about. It looks pretty good too.

GymBox - The designer Gym

The days of the designer super gym have arrived. Leading the pack is London’s GYMBOX; a new £5m mega gym located in the old Lumiere Cinema space at the St Martin's Lane hotel. Providing a unique experience is paramount in the new generation of fitness centre and Gymbox succeeds in breaking the old mould, with live nightly DJs and quirky classes such as 'Gladiator Games' - where participants engage in exercises from the eponymous early 90s TV show - and the 'Stiletto Workout,’ performed in heels. $8 million Maybach Exelero

A one-off custom-built Maybach was unveiled in May 2005 at the Tempodrom in Berlin. Commissioned by tyre company Fulda, the Exelero is a chopped-down two-seater coupe, though it's more than just a show car - in tests at the Nardo high-speed oval, the prototype reached a speed of 218.38mph, despite weighing over 2.66 tonnes. It is capable of acceleration from 0-60mph in 4.4 seconds.

The car's design was the result of a competition amongst students at the Pforzheim Polytechnic Department of Transport Design, which has worked on show vehicles for Fulda in the past. The design of 24-year-old Fredrik Burchhardt was chosen, and his work was co-ordinated with that of the Maybach design centre in Sindelfingen. The project, based on the Maybach 57 limousine, required a certain amount of re-engineering; the A-pillar and doors had to be shifted rearwards, and the steering column, pedals and gearshift all re-located. The standard 550bhp V12 engine was bored out to 5.9 litres, and tuned for 700bhp and over 738lb ft of torque. With final dimensions of 5890mm long, 2140mm wide and just 1390mm high, the car was kitted out with a full-spec interior, including leather, neoprene, aluminium and carbonfibre finishes.

Maybach says the car, built by Stola in Turin, is "a one-off vehicle created to showcase the new ultra-high performance Exelero tyre range from leading tyre manufacturer Fulda"; it's not the first time the two companies have teamed up, as back in 1938 Fulda demonstrated its tyres on a Maybach SW 38 limousine. There are, however, "no plans to produce the model in series", though it has been certified for on-road use.

Huvafen Fushi

If celebrity patrons are an indicator of a hotel’s popularity, the Maldives super-lux Huvafen Fushi is about as hot as it gets. George Clooney popped in for lunch last month, Kate Moss partied in her Ocean Villa, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes booked in a massage during their honeymoon.
Trendsetting Huvafen Fushi has been raising the benchmark since its first inception two years ago. Opening its doors to feature the world’s first underwater spa, Huvafen Fushi has since earned its spot on the coveted CondĂ© Nast Traveller Magazines’ UK and US Hot List. This discreetly luxurious, contemporary retreat is located on its own lagoon on a tiny island in North MalĂ© Atoll. I arrived late into the night direct from Singapore, the flight doesn’t get in until 10pm (note: book Emirates instead to arrive during the day). When I was escorted into my over-water bungalow, I felt like I’d walked into an Apple store/Armani showroom, with a bed in the middle surrounded by all my favorite gadgets. Surround sound Bose indoor/outdoor music system, Plasma TV screens, Bang & Olufsen phones, iPod Nano with an incredible selection of music that had already been installed – a separate massive bath which overlooks the ocean, my own private plunge pool, oversized king size bed, Frette linen, designer furniture (including pieces by Frank Gehry) electronic curtains, waterfall shower – the list goes on and on.

Waking up in the Maldives is something everyone should experience before they die. The view from the bed in my room overlooked the plunge pool which overlooks the Ocean. It’s an incredible sight, serious postcard material.

Apple iPhone

It has been as widely anticipated as the 'second coming', only this is its debut appearance. The Apple iPhone is finally here.

From the company who revolutionized the way we use portable music, comes a phone that will change the way we communicate. The iPhone is an incredibly sleek looking unit which uses a full color screen to cover the majority of its face. This is instantly impressive, as the quality of the screen supports beautiful high resolution images. The iPhone encompasses a plethora of different functions in the one unit. As Steve Jobs stated today at its press launch, 'We've been pushing the state of the art in every facet of this design'.

The iPhone includes a multi-touch screen, miniaturization, OS X in a mobile device, precision enclosures, three advanced sensors, desktop class applications, and the widescreen video iPod. With a battery life that generously pours out 5 hrs of talk back time, video editing and browsing as well as 16 hrs of audio playback, the iPhone is up for the challenge. Apple has packed so many new technologies into this unit they have had to file over 200 patents for all the features, in order to protect them.

Possibly one of the most subtle yet most user friendly features is the new navigation device called Multi-tuch. Styles free, the mulit-touch is a breakthrough in touch pad navigation. There is only one downside to the iPhone. It's not out till June. Until then, we'll keep you posted with more information on this incredible release from Apple. by Andy G
